According to reports, two men were shot dead Wednesday morning at Grambling State University in northern Louisiana, officials said.
The victims have been identified as 23-year-old Earl Andrews, a senior from Farmerville, Lousiana who attended Grambling State University, and 23-year-old Monquiarius Caldwell also from Farmerville, Grambling State University spokesman Will Sutton said.
According to Sutton, Caldwell was not a student at the university.
The two men were discovered in a courtyard between two of the campuses dormitory buildings, according to officials.
The gunman fled the scene.
Based on gathered information at the scene, the shooting followed an earlier altercation that started in one of the dorms.
Sutton said authorities were alerted to the shooting by a female student who called Grambling State University police chief on his cell phone.
