Dallas firefighter Horace Shaw III was driving over 100 miles-per-hour Wednesday morning before a crash that killed a pregnant 18-year-old woman, according to the affidavit for his arrest warrant. He was charged with one count of intoxication manslaughter for the alleged drunk-driving crash.
The wreck happened around 12:45 a.m. in Cedar Hill, southbound on Highway 67.
According to authorities, the firefighter was off-duty and driving at a high speed when he crashed into 18-year-old, Alyssa Pimentel’s SUV ejecting her and her passenger out of the vehicle. Pimentel was pregnant and died at the scene, her passenger was rushed to a nearby hospital with serious injuries.
The firefighter also had a passenger in the car with him and they were both taken to a nearby hospital, where their injuries are noted non-life threatening.
Shaw has been with Dallas Fire-Rescue for 12 years.
